Remembering the rainbow

What was I thinking - actually publishing a new years resolution. So far my daily blog is more like monthly. I think this is partly because I get too wrapped up in work and don't make time. Partly because I don't know what I want to say in a public forum. Art seemed like a good thing to use as a focal point since this is something I would like to explore and develop. I'm going to try again, but expand the blog to include things I've learned, regardless of the domain.

I returned to SFO recently after putting my dad in a 'memory-care' assisted living home. During the taxi ride from the airport, I saw the most amazing rainbow - wish I had a camera with me. The picture is vivid in my mind still, but if I do not record it, I know it will fade. I've been thinking, reading, observing more closely how our memories are created, preserved, and recalled. Why do we dwell on some memories while the others come and go so quickly? Pictures, videos and journals help us control the past that we remember. I have never been disciplined about using any of these tools, but I am just learning why they are so important.

What do I want to remember about today?
